At Physiotherapy Links we offer a range of Exercise Physiology and Clinical Pilates options for our patients.

Clinical Pilates is a specialized form of physical exercise that focuses on key areas including posture, core stability, balance, control, strength, movement and flexibility. Pilates focuses on muscles such as the deep abdominal and pelvic floor muscles, of which are our support system for the spine and pelvis.

Physiotherapy Links uses Clinical Pilates with the framework of modern evidence based exercise principles to treat a wide range of injuries particularly spinal conditions. There is strong evidence to support Clinical Pilates exercise in the rehabilitation of back injuries.

Pilates focuses on retraining the core muscles namely transversus abdminus, multifidus and the pelvic floor muscles and to challenge this stabilization system progressively with functional higher level exercises.

As with all of our treatments at Physiotherapy Links, Clinical Pilates is not a generic tool for everyone, we will tailor an exercise program and identify what elements of Clinical Pilates may suit your specific individual needs.

Clinical Pilates (as distinct to generic Pilates classes) identifies this key issue by applying carefully selected exercises to patients with specific injuries based on a complete Physiotherapy and or Exercise Physiology treatment. This ensures that patients achieve outcomes and long-term health goals.
